Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 1, 2026
Welcome to End of a Species, where we document humanity’s slow-motion extinction with reason, sarcasm, and the occasional meme. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, what we do with it, and what we refuse to exploit. Some of our sites are satire. This policy is not.
Who We Are
End of a Species is run by Jeff from End of a Species, who is responsible for the data our sites collect. For anything privacy related, email xnihilo@endofaspecies.com, or write to:

Where This Policy Applies
This policy covers these domains, including every page and subdomain under them:
- endofaspecies.com
- godbounty.com
- jmims.com
- kr101.com
- renderanargument.com
- xdotnihilo.com
If a page under any of these domains collects something not listed here, that is a mistake, and we want to hear about it.
What We Collect Automatically
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics collects:
- Browser and device information
- Approximate location (city or country level)
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring pages or links
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your IP address. Our host, Cloudflare, processes basic request data (including IP addresses) on every site to deliver pages and protect them from spam and abuse.
We do not sell or trade your data. No advertising, no ad tracking. No side hustles with your information.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Yes, we use cookies. These are every cookie and browser storage item our own code sets, on every site. “Necessary” means the page can’t do what you asked without it, so it doesn’t wait for your consent.
| Name | Site | What it holds | How long | Needs consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
eoas-consent (browser storage) | All sites | Your answer to the cookie notice, so we don’t ask on every page | Until you clear it | No (necessary) |
_ga, _ga_* | All sites | A random visitor ID so Google Analytics can tell visits apart | Up to 2 years | Yes |
gb_lic | godbounty.com | Your hunter license: hunter number, the name you chose, specialty and issue date, sealed so it can’t be edited | 1 year | No (necessary) |
gb_claims | godbounty.com | How many claims you’ve filed | 1 year | No (necessary) |
gb_oath | godbounty.com | Your oath words, shown to you once after you’re sworn in | 10 minutes | No (necessary) |
kr_name | kr101.com | The name you typed for your diploma | 1 year | No (necessary) |
kr_dist | kr101.com | Your best distance in the course, in meters | 1 year | No (necessary) |
kr_grad | kr101.com | That you finished the course | 1 year | No (necessary) |
If you’re in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics does not load at all until you choose Accept all. Everywhere else it loads unless you choose Essential only. Essential only stops analytics and clears its cookies; the necessary cookies above stay either way. On endofaspecies.com you can change your answer anytime with Cookies in the footer. On our other sites, clear that site’s storage in your browser and the notice comes back.
Cloudflare, which hosts every site, may set its own security cookies (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to stop bots. Those are necessary and covered by Cloudflare’s cookie policy.
Some pages embed outside services that set their own cookies or store data in your browser: YouTube and Twitch video players, and Transistor podcast players. Those services decide what they set, under their own privacy policies (see Third Parties below).
Information You Give Us
Some things only happen when you hand us the information yourself:
- Purchases. Merch, e-books and other digital products are sold through Fourthwall, and the audiobook is sold through Stripe and delivered by BookFunnel. They collect your name, email, shipping address and payment details. We see what we need to fulfill the order. We never see or store your full card details.
- Restoring a past purchase. On the claim page you enter your email and order number. We combine them into a one-way hash and check it against a list of hashes from past orders. Your email isn’t stored by this step.
- Memberships and tips. Patreon handles memberships. Cash App, PayPal, Venmo and StreamElements handle tips. We receive your name or handle and the amount, as those services report it.
- Rapture Board predictions. We store your prediction, your email (never displayed; used only if we have a question about your submission), whether you want credit, and the name and link to credit you with. Your name only appears publicly if you ask for credit. If you tick the newsletter box, your email joins the mailing list. Submissions are stored in Supabase.
- Mailing list and email. If you subscribe or email us, we keep your email address and what you wrote, in our own database.
What Each Site Stores
endofaspecies.com
- The 404 page. The address you typed, so it can join the list of wrong turns. Your IP address is combined with a secret and hashed, only to count each visitor once per address. The hash can’t be turned back into your IP.
- The Sun Hydrogen Foundation page. To limit abuse, it briefly records your IP address in our rate limiter, and logs IP address and browser type for some events. Those logs are kept by Cloudflare for up to 7 days.
- Spam and abuse limits. Forms count attempts per IP address for one hour, then forget.
- Merch. Browsing happens here; checkout happens on Fourthwall, under its own policy. We see your order, not your card.
godbounty.com
- Hunter licenses. When you’re sworn in, we store your hunter number, the name you chose, your specialty, your issue date and how many claims you’ve filed. Your name and number appear publicly on the hunter roll. No email, no account.
- Oath words. Four words that restore your license on another device. We store only a keyed hash of them, never the words. Lose them and nobody can recover them, including us.
- Claims and commissions. The details live inside the link you’re given, sealed so they can’t be edited. We keep only running totals.
- Rapture Board tips. Sent to the same form as on endofaspecies.com, under the same terms.
- Spam and abuse limits. Your IP address, combined with a secret and hashed, counts actions per hour. The counts expire.
- Leaving. The expunge page removes your license from that browser. To delete the license record itself, email us with your hunter number.
kr101.com
- Diplomas and the course. Your name and best distance stay in cookies in your browser. We don’t store them.
- Referral letters. The letter’s details live inside its link, sealed. We don’t keep a copy.
- Letter limits. Your IP address, combined with a secret and the date, is hashed to cap letters per day. Each day’s counts are deleted the next day.
renderanargument.com
Analytics only.
jmims.com and xdotnihilo.com
They forward you to the main site. They store nothing.
Third Parties
These services process data on our behalf, or run something embedded in our pages. We share data with them only to do what they’re here to do.
| Service | What for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting every site, our databases, bot checks (Turnstile) | Every request: IP address, browser details, pages requested |
| Google Analytics | Counting visits and what gets read | Visitor ID, pages, rough location, device type, only with consent where required |
| Google Fonts | Typefaces on godbounty.com and kr101.com | IP address and browser details when the font loads |
| Adobe Fonts | Typefaces on most sites | IP address to deliver fonts; sets no cookies |
| Supabase | Database for the Rapture Board | Rapture Board submissions |
| Fourthwall | Merch, e-books and digital products: checkout, payment, shipping | Your order, name, address and payment details, entered on their site |
| Stripe and BookFunnel | Audiobook sales and delivery | Your order, email and payment details, entered on their sites |
| Patreon | Memberships | Whatever you give Patreon when you join |
| Discord | Discussion of posts, and alerts to us and to the community server | Anything you post there; a notice that a submission arrived, with public credit only if you asked for it |
| YouTube, Twitch, Transistor | Embedded video and podcast players | Whatever their players collect when you load or play them. YouTube videos load in privacy-enhanced mode, which sets no cookies until you press play. |
We have no control over what outside platforms do with information you give them directly. Their privacy policies apply once you interact with their content.
Mailing List and Email Communications
If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect and store your email address. Emails are sent through an email provider that complies with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other applicable privacy regulations.
- You will only receive emails related to End of a Species content, updates, or initiatives.
- Every email includes a working unsubscribe link that permanently removes you from our list.
- We do not share or sell your email address to third parties.
- Our email provider may collect anonymized engagement data (such as open or click rates) to help us understand what content resonates.
Every campaign email includes our mailing address in its footer, as the law requires.
Why We’re Allowed To (Legal Bases)
For visitors covered by the GDPR or UK GDPR, we rely on:
- Consent for analytics cookies and the mailing list. You can withdraw it anytime.
- Contract for purchases and restoring access to something you bought.
- Legitimate interests for keeping our sites secure, running the features you use (like the kr101.com course and godbounty.com hunter licenses), and answering your emails.
- Legal obligation when the law requires us to keep or hand over records.
How Long We Keep It
Analytics data is kept on Google’s retention settings, never longer than 14 months. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Rapture Board submissions are kept with the board’s archive, or until you ask us to remove them. Hunter licenses are kept until you ask us to delete them. Rate limit counts expire within a day. Everything else is deleted when we no longer need it.
Where Your Data Goes
We’re based in the United States, and so are most of the services we use (Cloudflare, Google, Supabase, Fourthwall, Stripe, Patreon, Discord). If you’re outside the US, your data may be processed there. We rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or recognized data transfer frameworks.
Data Security
Our sites are hosted on Cloudflare, which uses industry-standard encryption and secure infrastructure. We do not directly store payment details or other sensitive personal data on our own servers.
If a data incident occurs that affects information under our control, we will notify affected users through email or a public site notice. We don’t cover things up.
Data Sharing and Legal Disclosure
We share data only with the services listed above, and only to do what they’re here to do. Beyond that, we do not share your information except when required by law or necessary to protect site integrity, our intellectual property, or the safety of others.
If compelled by lawful request (such as a court order), we will comply, and only with what’s required. We’ll publicly document any government requests for user data whenever possible.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (the EU, the UK, California and others), you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data, or get a copy of it
- Request corrections or deletions
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your data
- Withdraw consent you gave us, without affecting anything done before
- Complain to your local data protection authority
We honor these for everyone, wherever you are. To use them, email xnihilo@endofaspecies.com and tell us which site and the email or name you used. We aim to answer within 30 days, and sooner when we can.
Children
Our sites are not directed at anyone under the age of 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it immediately.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we’ll post the new version here and adjust the “last updated” date at the top. Substantial changes will be announced via the site or email list.
